Mary Jo Villa
Mary Jo Villa serves as Regional President for APG of Southern Wisconsin. The Southern Wisconsin group, established in January 2019, now includes six daily newspapers, ten weeklies, and several shoppers and TMC products. Before joining APG, Mary Jo was the Chief Operating Officer at Bliss Communications, Inc. Throughout her 30-year career in the newspaper business, she served in a variety of capacities, including circulation director, ad director, general manager, VP of human resources, and VP of strategic operations. She spearheaded multiple projects including acquisitions, system installations, and building and equipping a greenfield printing, inserting and distribution center, which now serves as the regional printing center for APG Southern Wisconsin.
Mary Jo and her husband Joe live in Janesville, Wisconsin, where they are both active in the community. Mary Jo has served on the Board of Directors of the local economic development group, Forward Janesville, the Boys & Girls Club, and the YWCA. Originally from Fond du Lac, WI, she holds a BA in political science and public administration from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and a master’s degree in labor and human resource administration from the LaFollette Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Mary Jo and Joe have three grown children and three grandchildren and spend much of their free time with family.
